Karsten Kruska had a pair of goals while Zach McIntyre tallied career point number 100, as the Yorkton Terriers doubled up the La Ronge Ice Wolves 6-3. With the victory, Yorkton snapped La Ronge’s ten game point streak, while moving ahead of the Ice Wolves into 6th place.

The Ice Wolves opened the scoring just over a minute into the first period. Kael DePape stopped three shots on a flurry of Ice Wolves chances, before Tye Evans tapped in a loose puck to make it 1-0 La Ronge. The Ice Wolves doubled their lead later on in the frame. A strange hop off the end boards fooled DePape, who got tangled up with a couple of players, and Jacob Visenti found an opportunity, sliding home his third goal of the season to make it 2-0. The Terriers cut into the La Ronge lead before the end of the frame. On power-play, a wrist shot from Tyson Janzen deflected off a falling Kruska and into the La Ronge net to make it a 2-1 game.

The Terriers tied up the contest midway through the second period. Zach McIntyre found Tyson Janzen busting into the La Ronge zone and the Yorkton defender was brought down to the ice, where on his stomach, he slid the puck through Xavier Cannon to make it 2-2. Just 28 seconds later, Yorkton took their first lead of the night. After multiple whacks on goal, Carson Henry picked up the loose puck and wired it over Cannon for his eighth goal of the season, giving the Terriers a 3-2 lead.

Early in the third period, La Ronge tied up the contest. Parker Fofonoff picked up a loose puck and tore down the right wing of Yorkton’s zone, before his centering feed found Tye Evans, who had a tap in for his second goal of the night to make it 3-3. The game remained tied until there was 3:01 left in the third period. The puck hopped over the stick of Parker Layton at the La Ronge blue-line which allowed Kishaun Gervais to go one on one against Cannon, lifting the puck onto the top shelf for his team leading 17th goal of the season, giving Yorkton a 4-3. The Terriers added two empty netters to seal the deal, which included a milestone marker. Zach McIntyre captured career point 100 in the SJHL with his empty net marker, to make it 5-3 Yorkton, before Kruska made it 6-3 with his second of the night.

Yorkton returns to action tomorrow afternoon to host the Flin Flon Bombers. The game will be on the GX 94 online stream, with the pre-game at 1:50pm and play-by-play kicking off a 2:00pm from the Westland Insurance Arena.
