In the third installment of the Battle of Highway 10, the Terriers came out flying, striking twice in the opening ten minutes to seize early control of the game.
The scoring opened on an extended 5-on-3 power play, where William Léonard ripped home his 12th of the season. Yorkton worked the puck with precision, and crisp feeds from Gabrielle Courchesne and Thomas Ries set up Léonard for a clean finish.
Moments later, Yorkton product Jye Zawatsky electrified the crowd with a highlight-reel rush. Blazing through the neutral zone, he sliced past two Mills defenders before tucking his 11th of the year under the arm of goaltender Noah Singagowitz, pushing the Terriers ahead 2–0.
But Melville answered quickly. Just 13 seconds after Zawatsky’s marker, Keil Schmalz snapped a shot past Callum Creig on the glove side, halting Yorkton’s momentum. The Millionaires kept pressing and were rewarded late in the period when a scramble in front left a loose puck in the blue paint. Leo Jewitt pounced, tapping it in to send the game into the intermission tied 2–2.
The middle frame featured just one goal, coming late in the period. Rylan Oatman slipped behind the Terriers’ defence and snapped a shot off the post and in, giving Melville their first lead of the night.
In the third, the Millionaires added to their advantage as Kale Margolis and Nathan Taylor both found the back of the net. Taylor’s goal chased Creig from the game, leading to Alexandro Montoya entering in relief and stopping all four shots he faced.
With their backs against the wall, the Terriers refused to fold. Pulling the goalie late, they struck twice—first with Léonard burying his second of the night, then with Tylan Henrikson tipping home a Zawatsky point shot to cut the deficit to one. But that was as close as Yorkton would come, ultimately falling 5–4 to the Mills.
These two teams will meet again tomorrow night at the CN Community Centre in Melville, with puck drop set for 7:00 PM.
