After a ten-day break, the Yorkton Terriers are back on the ice tonight, hitting the road for a Bunge Division clash against a familiar foe — the Estevan Bruins. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 PM from Affinity Place as Yorkton looks to notch its first win of the young 2025–26 SJHL season.

The Terriers opened their campaign with a pair of games, earning just one point out of a possible four. Their season opener saw them fall 5–4 in a shootout to the Weyburn Red Wings in Weyburn, followed by a 6–2 defeat on home ice to that same Red Wings squad. Despite the results, there have been some early bright spots in the lineup.

Forward Gabriel Courchesne has come out firing, scoring three goals in his first two games — a promising sign for Yorkton’s offensive firepower. On the back end, returning defenceman Thierry Laliberte has been contributing offensively as well, tallying three assists through the opening weekend.

In goal, Callum Creig started both games for Yorkton, while newcomer Alexandro Montoya made his debut in relief during the home opener, stopping 9 of the 11 shots he faced.

Looking back at last season’s head-to-head record, the Terriers had the upper hand over the Bruins, winning six of the eight meetings between the two clubs. That success is something Yorkton will hope to carry into tonight’s matchup.

Estevan enters tonight’s contest having played four games already this season, holding a 1-2-1 record. The Bruins are coming off back-to-back losses to Weyburn, including a closely contested overtime defeat, and will be eager to get back in the win column in front of their home crowd.
