“Our goal coming into the tournament was to win gold.”

That’s the mindset of Yorkton Terriers captain Tylan Henrikson, who now has the chance to see that goal through as Team SJHL prepares for the Viking Cup gold medal game.

It’s been a picture-perfect tournament for the SJHL squad in Camrose, Alberta, opening with three straight wins and outscoring opponents 20–7 along the way.

Henrikson, along with Terriers teammate Jye Zawatsky, has made an impact throughout the tournament. Henrikson has recorded a pair of assists, while Zawatsky scored twice in Team SJHL’s 7–3 win over the University of Alberta Augustana.

Henrikson credits the team’s mindset for their success heading into the championship matchup.

“Sticking to our identity has been big for us. Playing fast and using our skill has worked well,” said the Foam Lake product. “Now it’s about soaking in the experience and representing our teams and our league to the best of our ability.”

Team SJHL’s final test comes tomorrow afternoon as they face SAIT in the gold medal game. Puck drop is set for 12:00 p.m., with the game available to stream on FloHockey.
