Terriers Continue Building Forward Group with Sperle Signing

The Yorkton Terriers have added another forward to their roster for the upcoming 2026-27 season.

Unity, Saskatchewan product Kaden Sperle has signed a Letter of Intent with the Terriers and said the organization’s winning culture and commitment to player development made Yorkton an easy choice.

“What drew me to Yorkton was how competitive of a team they are year in and year out. Yorkton takes pride in their player development, and it will be a great place for me to continue developing as a player at the highest level.”

Sperle will also have a familiar face waiting for him in Yorkton. Last week, fellow Battlefords Stars U18 AAA teammate Lane Keyowski committed to the Terriers. The pair have spent the past two seasons together with the Stars program.

“Having Lane join me in Yorkton will definitely make the transition easier. We’ve been teammates for the past two seasons and have gotten to know each other really well. Knowing someone going in is nice, and Lane and I can navigate this new chapter together instead of trying to figure it all out on our own.”

The centreman recorded 22 points in 79 games at the U18 AAA level and describes himself as a player who brings speed, grit, and a strong two-way game.

“I would describe my playing style as very fast and gritty. I’m a strong two-way forward who takes pride in being effective on the penalty kill and on the forecheck. I like to model my game after Zach Hyman because he gets to the hard areas and works extremely hard all over the ice.”

Sperle is also eager for the challenge that comes with making the jump to Junior A hockey.

“What excites me most about the jump from AAA to junior is the level of competition. Junior A is a great opportunity to test my limits and become the best player I can be. It also provides an opportunity to continue both my education and hockey career after junior.”

The Terriers will look forward to adding Sperle’s work ethic, speed, and defensive reliability to their lineup as they continue building for the 2026-27 season.
