The opening twenty minutes of Game 3 between the Yorkton Terriers and Battlefords North Stars saw both teams find the back of the net once.
It was the North Stars who opened the scoring on a chance out front, as Finlay Klippenstein continued his strong series with his fifth goal of the playoffs and third of the series.
The Terriers responded off the rush, with Thomas Ries finishing a pretty give-and-go with Vinay Junek. The goal marked Ries’ fifth of the postseason.
Both teams went 0-for-1 on the power play, while Yorkton outshot Battlefords 12–10 in the opening frame.
In the middle period, the North Stars regained the lead on the power play, as Owen Nelson ripped a shot over the pad of Callum Creig to make it 2–1.
The Terriers had a few chances to equalize, but Kaeden Serpa was sharp, turning aside nine shots in the second period.
The Terriers would pull even once again early in the third, as Gabriel Courchesne threaded a perfect backdoor pass to Thomas Ries, who chipped home his second of the night.
The 2–2 tie didn’t last long, however, as Anthony Campbell restored the North Stars’ lead shortly after.
Yorkton pushed hard for the equalizer late, but came up just short, falling 3–2 in Game 3 as Battlefords took a 2–1 series lead.
