Rematch In Wilcox

Story Coming In:

After the Terriers won their first game of the 2020/21 SJHL season, they now get set for the
rematch against the Notre Dame Hounds in Wilcox. Led by a three point by Carson Miller and
six unanswered goals, the Terriers downed Notre Dame Saturday night 6-2. The win was
described as a relief by Head Coach Mat Hehr, who believes his team is ready to take off this
season. The defense was also noticeably better, with Philippe Bond only giving up two goals on
28 shots. Yorkton can build some momentum early in the season with another win over the
Hounds, before a home and home series against their Highway 10 rivals, the Melville
Millionaires on Friday and Saturday night.

View from Notre Dame:

After starting the game against Yorkton with a 2-0 lead in the first period, the Hounds couldn’t
withstand the offensive onslaught by the Terriers, as Notre Dame saw their record drop to 1-1
early in the season. Ethan Stuckless had a goal and an assist to bring him to four points on the
season, which leads the Hounds. Head Coach Brett Pilkington will be looking for a stronger
effort by his team tonight, as they look for revenge against the Terriers. This could be a big
game for the Hounds as they face an extremely difficult part of their schedule, playing Humboldt
in a home and home this weekend, and then Estevan next weekend.

Oh Captain My Captain:

With several weapons offensively on the Terriers, co-captain Keenan Taphorn has quietly put
together a good start to the season. That’s not something that’s usually said about a team’s
leading point getter, but with names like Brett Kemp, Carson Miller and Kishaun Gervais on the
roster, one could almost forget about Taphorn. With two goals in Saturday’s win and four assists
in the first two games, the Yorkton product has himself on a run in his 20-year-old season. Now
with the rematch against Notre Dame on the olympic-sized ice in the Duncan McNeill Arena,
Keenan Taphorn will look to lead the Terriers to their second win of the season.
