The start of Game 2 looked a lot like Game 1, with an early trip to the penalty box giving the visitors a prime opportunity — including a 5-on-3 for just under a minute and a half. But it was the Terriers who struck first. Thomas Ries finished off a 2-on-1, burying a feed from Jake Briltz to open the scoring, and Yorkton went on to kill off the remainder of the power play.
The Millionaires pushed to respond soon after, but Callum Creig came up big, robbing Hudson Binder with a left-pad save to keep the Terriers in front.
Yorkton controlled the play throughout the period, dominating possession and the shot clock with a commanding 15–3 edge over the opening twenty minutes.
In the middle frame, after 11 power-play opportunities, the Yorkton Terriers finally broke through with the man advantage. A loose puck found its way to William Léonard, who made no mistake, burying his first of the postseason to give Yorkton a 2–0 lead.
Creig stood tall in goal, turning aside all 10 shots he faced in the second period.
The Terriers added to their lead early in the third, just 1:22 into the frame, as Gavin Bartha poked home his second of the playoffs past Spencer Dahl to make it 3–0.
Gabriel Courchesne picked up his first of the postseason into an empty net, before Preston Baerwald spoiled Callum Creig’s shutout bid with a glove-side marker, cutting the lead to 4–1.
With the win, the Terriers earn a split in the series, which now shifts to the Rail City for Games 3 and 4 on Tuesday and Friday.
