The opening twenty minutes of Game 4 were scoreless.
Gabriel Courchesne had the Terriers’ best chance of the period, breaking in alone on a breakaway, but was turned aside by Charlie Tritt.
Alexandro Montoya was sharp in his first start of the postseason, stopping all eight shots he faced. The Montreal native kept things steady early as Yorkton worked to find its rhythm.
The Terriers went 0-for-1 on the power play and were outshot 8–5 in the frame.
In the middle period, both teams generated quality chances to break the deadlock, but Montoya and Tritt continued to stand tall. As a result, the game remained scoreless heading into the second intermission.
Tempers flared late in the period when Gavin Bartha was on the receiving end of a blatant sucker punch from Reid Arberry. Arberry was initially assessed a match penalty for roughing, which was later downgraded to a two-minute minor. Bartha did not return to the game.
In the third period, the Bombers finally broke through early as Daniel Morozov snapped a shot glove side past Montoya. Morozov added another midway through the frame, and the Terriers were unable to solve Tritt the rest of the way, falling 2–0 as the Bombers captured their first Canterra Seeds Cup since 1993.
Yorkton’s magical season comes to an end, and what a run it was. Gabriel Courchesne led the league in scoring, Cash Lanigan was named Rookie of the Year, and Callum Creig was nominated for Goaltender of the Year. The Terriers captured their first division title in six years and reached the league final for the first time in 12 years.
The future is extremely bright for the orange and black.
