WARMAN, SK – William Léonard exploded for four goals as the Yorkton Terriers bounced back in a big way, cruising to a 7–2 victory on the road in Warman in the first-ever meeting between the two franchises.
The Terriers got off to the start they were looking for in the opening period, striking twice early.
First, it was Cash Lanigan converting on the power play for his second of the season, with Jye Zawatsky and Riley Cormier collecting the assists. Cormier continues to pile up helpers, now up to eight on the year after recording 12 all of last season.
Shortly after, Léonard found the back of the net for his sixth of the campaign to make it 2–0 Yorkton.
The Terriers finished the first period 1-for-2 on the power play and outshot the Wolverines 13–6.
In the second, Léonard stayed hot, burying his second of the night to extend the lead to 3–0.
Warman got on the board when Riley Rich-Holden beat Callum Craig on the power play, but the Terriers quickly answered back as Mikale Budz notched his second of the season to restore the three-goal cushion at 4–1. Yorkton once again outshot Warman 11–6 in the frame.
The third period belonged entirely to Léonard, who completed his first SJHL hat trick before adding a fourth goal for good measure.
Quinn Tavender rounded out the scoring late as the Terriers cruised past the Wolverines 7–2.
With the win, Yorkton climbs back to the .500 mark (6–6–1) and will now set their sights on a matchup with the Nipawin Hawks next week.
