Gabrielle Courchene’s third-period marker proved to be the difference, lifting the Yorkton Terriers to a 2–1 victory over the Kindersley Klippers and allowing them to split the weekend set up north.
Both teams struck in the opening frame. William Léonard continued his strong season by notching his 17th of the year to open the scoring for Yorkton. The Klippers answered midway through the period when Luke Ridgway beat Callum Creig to even things up.
After a scoreless second period, the deadlock remained until just under eight minutes to play in regulation. That’s when Courchene buried his 12th of the campaign, a goal that would ultimately stand as the game-winner.
Creig turned aside 26 shots in the victory, while the Terriers peppered Kindersley with 47 shots of their own.
With the win, Yorkton improves to 14-10-2 on the season and now shifts focus to hosting the Estevan Bruins on Tuesday night.
