The Yorkton Terriers’ road to redemption has officially begun.
The club made its first transaction of the offseason by signing Defenceman Lane Keyowski to a Letter of Intent for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
Keyowski was selected by Yorkton in the third round of the 2024 SJHL 2008 Born Draft.
The 6-foot-2 blueliner is excited to begin the next chapter of his hockey career in the Parkland Region this fall.
“Yorkton has a very strong team and organization that is always competing in the playoffs,” said Keyowski. “There’s great fan and community support along with an excellent facility. I’m excited to join the Terriers organization.”
The Shellbrook, Saskatchewan product has spent the past two seasons with the Battlefords North Stars U18 AAA program. Keyowski, who models parts of his game after Moritz Seider, described himself as a physical two-way defender.
“I’m a hard-hitting defensive defenceman who likes to jump into the play when the opportunity is there,” he said.
Terriers Head Coach and General Manager Emery Olauson says Keyowski’s combination of size, physicality, and growth offensively made him stand out.
“We really like Lane’s size on the back end,” said Olauson. “He’s a very good defender who plays the game hard. He has developed a lot offensively over the past couple of seasons, and he comes with a very high character reference from his U18 AAA coach. We believe Lane has all the ingredients to become a great addition to our defensive corps.”
As for the jump to Junior A hockey, Keyowski knows the challenge ahead will be a big one, but one he’s eager to embrace.
“The game will be faster, and the players will be stronger and more physical at the next level,” said Keyowski. “I’m looking forward to the challenge and continuing to improve my game.”
Welcome to the Terriers family, Lane!
