For the seventh consecutive year, RBC is proud to partner with the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League to spotlight the league’s athletes who are making a positive impact in their communities.

One player from each SJHL team was selected for their outstanding commitment to community service and leadership on and off the ice.

This year’s selection for the Yorkton Terriers is Forward Tylan Henrikson.

He said it was a big honour to receive the award.

“Volunteering with kids and giving back to my community has always been important to me,” said Henrikson. “I remember looking up to older players when I was younger. Now, to be in a position where I can do the same for the next generation is incredibly meaningful. Seeing the community come out and support our team motivates me to give back wherever possible. I’m grateful for this recognition and the chance to positively impact, ” stated Henrikson.

The 19-year-old Foam Lake product is in his second season with the Terriers and is forming an identityw with the club. The Winger has 10 points in 28 games this season.

Head Coach and General Manager Emery Olauson commented on the recognition of Tylan’s work within the community.

Tylan embodies what it means to be a Terrier,” said Olauson. “He is a great teammate, a role model in town, helps out everywhere in our community, and he plays with passion. He meets our standard of “being a role model who can help us win a Championship.” I am proud to be on a team with a player and person like Tylan,” added Olauson.

These Ambassadors are celebrated for their dedication to giving back to the communities they represent. Henrikson will be honoured on January 24th against Nipiawin with a $1,000 donation from RBC to a local school in their community.

Fans also have the opportunity to vote online for their favourite RBC Community Ambassador nominee. After the regular season, the player with the most votes will be named the SJHL’s RBC Community Award recipient. This recognition includes an additional $2,500 donation from RBC, made in the recipient’s name, to a school in their community.
