YORKTON, SK — The Yorkton Terrier Junior Hockey Booster Club is pleased to announce that Blake Friars has signed a three-year extension with the organization, continuing his roles as Play-by-Play Host, Team Webmaster and Social Media Coordinator.
Friars has become a familiar voice and presence around the Terriers organization over the past three seasons, helping tell the team’s story both on and off the ice.
As the Terriers move into a new broadcasting opportunity with FloHockey, Friars will also add FloHockey Broadcast Director to his responsibilities, overseeing the production and presentation of Terriers home broadcasts on the platform.
The extension will keep Friars with the Terriers through the next three seasons as the organization continues to build on its recent success and expand its digital and broadcast presence.
“Yorkton has really become home for me over the last three years, and I’m very honoured to have the opportunity to sign a three-year extension and continue my time with the Terriers,” said Friars.
“Being a broadcaster gives you a unique perspective on a team, and to have watched this organization grow over the three seasons I’ve been here has been remarkable. I’m incredibly grateful to be able to continue doing something I love in a community and with an organization that means so much to me.
“Last year’s run to the Canterra Seeds Cup Final was some of the most fun I’ve ever had calling hockey games, and those are moments I’ll never forget.
“I’m excited about where this organization is headed and looking forward to creating a lot more great memories over the next three years.”
Friars has been behind the microphone for some of the Terriers’ biggest moments in recent seasons, while also playing an important role in the club’s website, social media coverage and overall digital presence.
His expanded role as FloHockey Broadcast Director represents another step forward for the Terriers as the club looks to continue improving the way fans can follow and connect with the team throughout the season.
The Yorkton Terrier Junior Hockey Booster Club is excited to have Friars remain part of the organization and looks forward to the next three years with him behind the microphone and behind the scenes.
