The opening twenty minutes were all Yorkton, as they struck five times — with five different players finding the scoresheet.
William Léonard got things started off the rush, with Gabriel Courchesne and Jye Zawatsky collecting the assists on the Drummondville, QC product’s 31st of the season.
Cash Lanigan made it 2–0 exactly one minute later, finishing off a faceoff win by Vinay Junek. Austin Horbachewsky potted his fifth shortly after as the offence continued to come in waves.
The Terriers struck twice more late in the first period, again a minute apart. Owen Roberts jammed home his fifth of the year before Vallance labeled one top corner for his 12th of the season, chasing Ice Wolves starter Graham Brown after allowing five goals on 18 shots.
Yorkton dominated the opening frame, outshooting La Ronge 19–4.
In the middle frame, the goals continued to come in bunches as the Terriers struck four more times.
Ryder McDonald cashed in on the power play, sniping his ninth of the season.
The captain followed with a pair of goals just under four minutes apart, netting his seventh and eighth of the campaign.
The visitors eventually broke through, as Dayton Tailfeathers snapped a shot high glove on Montoya for his 17th of the season. Yorkton answered just 13 seconds later, with Junek jamming home his 20th past Zezel to make it 9–1.
The Terriers continued to dominate the shot clock, leading 40–8 after forty minutes.
In the third period, Yorkton added two more as Zawatsky scored his 26th of the season before Horbachewsky found the back of the net on the power play for his second of the night, making it 11–1.
Montoya stopped 10 of 11 shots to earn his 10th win of the season.
The victory extends the Terriers’ winning streak to five and, more impressively, moves them eight points clear of Weyburn for first place in the Bunge Division, setting the stage for a big showdown next week.
