Jaeden Mercier had five assists, while both Jeremi Tremblay and Liam Bridger had four point nights, and the Flin Flon Bombers defeated the Yorkton Terriers 8-3. Colton Koran had a goal and a helper, while Dylan Ruptash and Pavel McKenzie each added singles for Yorkton. Despite giving up five goals in the first, the Terriers looked the better team through the final 40 minutes of play.

The Bombers struck early in the first period, on the power-play. Bridger found a wide open Jacob Vockler on the back door, who buried a shot past Tommy Bouchard. Flin Flon quickly made it 2-0, when Alexi Sylvestre received a Mercier pass in the slot, scoring his seventh goal of the season. A tough third goal off the stick of Bridger found its way through Bouchard to make it 3-0, and the Levis, Quebec product’s night was over. Even with a new goalie, Flin Flon continued to score. Vockler scored his second of the night, out waiting Caleb Allen and wrapping the puck around his pad to make it 4-0. Terriers finally got a response on a wacky bounce. The puck hit the back wall and came straight to Ruptash, who wired the puck past Harmon Laser-Hume to make it 4-1. Bombers got the goal back on another power-play, this time from Tremblay for his ninth goal of the season.

The Terriers came out of the break on a mission. A few big hits and Yorkton started turning the tide in the hockey game. They got a goal back when a shot from Quintin Unreiner deflected off Koran and in to make it a 5-2 game. However, any momentum the Terriers built in the frame was snuffed out, when a seam pass ended up on the stick of Jaxon Martens, who made it 6-2 Flin Flon.

Bombers got another power-play goal late in the third period. Sylvestre slid home his second goal of the game to make it 7-2. Terriers responded seconds later courtesy of McKenzie. The Cumberland House product went top corner for his fourth goal of the year to make it 7-3. Bombers added yet another power-play goal, this time on a 5-on-3, for a final score of 8-3.

Both teams collide again on Friday at the Whitney Forum. GX 94 will broadcast the game with the pre-game show starting at 7:20pm and play-by-play at 7:30pm.
