The fast-paced, entertaining opening twenty minutes between the Yorkton Terriers and Estevan Bruins produced just one goal, and it came on the power play.
William Léonard threaded a perfect seeing-eye pass to Terriers captain Tylan Henrikson, who ripped the puck past a sprawling Dylan Adams for his fourth goal of the season.
Yorkton controlled long stretches of the opening frame, outshooting the Bruins 14–6.
In the middle period, the Terriers and Bruins traded power-play goals.
Aidan Vallance struck first, redirecting his seventh of the season past Adams, with Gavin Bartha and Kale Johns picking up the assists.
Estevan answered later in the frame as Rylan Williams directed an Ewan Rennie feed past Callum Creig for his 18th of the campaign.
Yorkton continued to dictate the pace in the second, outshooting the Bruins 12–8.
In the third period, the Terriers’ offense kept its foot on the gas, scoring twice more.
Ryder McDonald jammed home a loose puck in the crease for his third of the season, with Tyler Palin recording the lone assist.
Moments later, Vinay Junek brought the Terrier faithful to their feet with a powerful drive to the net, finishing on the forehand for his 10th of the campaign.
Callum Creig was solid between the pipes, turning aside 19 of the 20 shots he faced for his 14th victory of the season.
With the win, the Terriers closed the gap on the Bruins to three points while still holding three games in hand, and now hit the road for a stiff test with three games in three nights—travelling to Nipawin on Friday, Flin Flon on Saturday, before wrapping up the trip Sunday afternoon in La Ronge.
