It’s another divisional test tonight for the Yorkton Terriers as they roll into Affinity Place for a matchup with the Estevan Bruins. This is the second meeting of the season between the clubs, with the Bruins taking the opener back in late September, doubling up the Terriers 6–3.
Yorkton enters the night riding the momentum of an impressive 5–0 road victory over their Highway 10 rivals, the Melville Millionaires. Goaltender Alexandro Montoya was nothing short of spectacular in that outing, turning aside all 39 shots he faced to earn his first SJHL shutout.
Up front, the Terriers continue to get consistent production from William Léonard, who remains red-hot with goals in three straight. He leads the team with 14 on the season and sits above a point-per-game pace with 22 points in 20 games.
Another Terrier riding a hot streak is Yorkton native Jye Zawatsky, who was recognized by the SJHL as the Saskatchewan Player of the Week for his efforts a week ago, posting one goal and four assists. The 20-year-old forward has already surpassed last season’s goal total with 11, and he’s on pace to shatter his career high in points set in 2023–24 (34), with 25 points already through just 21 games.
In the standings, Yorkton (11-9-1) sits four points back of Estevan (12-6-3) for second place in the Bunge Division, adding even more weight to tonight’s contest.
Puck drop from Energy City is set for 7:00 PM.
