FLIN FLON, MB: Riley Cormier’s first-period marker stood up as the game-winner, as Callum Creig stopped all 50 shots he faced, as the Yorkton Terriers kicked off their four-game road trip with a 3-0 victory over the Flin Flon Bombers.
It was a strong opening twenty minutes for the Yorkton Terriers as they kicked off a lengthy road trip beginning with the Flin Flon Bombers.
The visitors would find the scoresheet first after some good work behind the goalline by Keenan Ingram. He found Riley Cormier at the right point, and his shot beat Kenneth Marquart for his 4th of the season.
The Terries played a pretty stingy opening 10 minutes of the first period, which limited the Bombers to two shots.
The Terriers got an opportunity on the powerplay but did not convert.
Callum Creig got the call in goal for the Terriers and made nine stops in the first period.
In the second period, the Bombers began their push, but Callum Creig was phenomenal in the pipes, stopping all 19 shots he faced.
His teammates would reward his strong play with some insurance.
The puck squirted loose to the side of the net, and Tyler Palin skated into it, ripping it past Marquart for a 2-0 lead. The goal was his fourth of the season.
The Terriers added to their lead late in the third period on a 2 on 1.
Dustin Renas dashed into the zone and ripped one off the pad of Maquart, and it deflected off the skate of Vinay Junek and in for a 3-0 lead.
Creig slammed the door shut the rest of the way as he pitched his second shutout in his last three starts, boosting his numbers to a ridiculous 5-0 1.11 GAA and .962 SV%.
The Terriers move to 6-6 on the year and climb to 7th place as they work their way back up the standings.
The four-game road trip continues tomorrow night on the road in La Ronge.
