Assiniboia, SK — The Yorkton Terriers showcased resilience and sharp execution Tuesday night, extending their winning streak to four with a decisive 4-1 victory over the Weyburn Red Wings.

The Terriers wasted no time getting on the board, as David Coyle found the back of the net just 1:27 into the first period. The goal, assisted by Jaron Desnoyers and Jeff Hammond, gave Yorkton an early boost.

Weyburn responded midway through the first when Ryder Rommelaere buried a pass from Jase McNichol, tying the game at 1-1.

The second period proved pivotal for Yorkton, as they reclaimed the lead dramatically. While shorthanded, Jaron Desnoyers roofed a shot past Weyburn netminder Angelo Zol, with Evan Auld earning the lone assist on the captain’s 14th goal of the season.

Yorkton displayed their poise in the third period, securing the win with two empty-net goals. Jeff Hammond struck unassisted at 17:14, followed by David Coyle’s second tally of the night, set up by Dustin Renas, with just a minute remaining.

In goal, Callum Creig was a standout performer for the Terriers, turning aside 28 of 29 shots to claim his ninth win of the season—good for second among rookie goaltenders. On the other side, Weyburn’s Angelo Zol made 27 saves but couldn’t withstand Yorkton’s offensive pressure.

Special teams were another bright spot for the Terriers. Despite giving Weyburn five power-play opportunities, Yorkton’s penalty killers held firm and delivered a crucial shorthanded goal in the second period.

Looking Ahead

The Viterra Division leading Yorkton Terriers now return home for a matchup against the Notre Dame Hounds on Friday, while Weyburn looks to regroup as they prepare to face the Humboldt Broncos.
