David Coyle and Riley Cormier scored goals just 30 seconds apart as the Yorkton Terriers erased an early 2–0 deficit with five unanswered goals to defeat the Melville Millionaires 5–2 and extend their winning streak to a season-best six games in front of a packed house at Westland Insurance Arena.
The Millionaires struck early in the first period. Brendan Olson opened the scoring just 51 seconds into the game, finishing a centering feed from Gaborik Carlson, with Matt Kjemhus picking up the secondary assist. Carlson doubled the lead off the rush, snapping a shot short side past Ethan Farrow, assisted by Simon Parini and Kjemhus.
Following the media timeout, the Terriers began to find their rhythm, creating several quality scoring chances but failing to solve Ben Laurette. Despite outshooting Melville 8–7, Yorkton couldn’t capitalize on their lone power-play opportunity as Laurette stopped all seven shots he faced. At the other end, Farrow made six saves on eight shots.
In the second period, the Terriers came to life, firing 18 shots and finally breaking through on the power play. David Coyle buried a puck under Laurette’s pads for his 13th goal of the season and fifth in his last eight periods, assisted by Hammond.
The Terriers kept up the pressure, generating multiple goalmouth scrambles, but the Millionaires clung to their one-goal lead. Late in the period, defenseman Harrison Aldridge found a loose puck in the slot and rifled it off the post and in for his first goal of the season, igniting the crowd. After two periods, Yorkton led in shots 25–14, while Farrow stopped all six shots he faced in the frame.
The third period was all Yorkton as their offense erupted with three goals on nine shots. Dustin Renas started the scoring, slipping one five-hole on Laurette for his 14th of the campaign, with Ingram collecting his third assist of the night and Briltz adding another.
Moments later, Coyle struck again, jamming home his second goal of the evening. Just 30 seconds after that, Cormier’s wrist shot from the right point found its way through traffic for his fifth of the season, putting the game out of reach.
Farrow rebounded from a slow start, stopping 19 of 21 shots to earn his 12th win of the season, backstopping the Terriers to a thrilling comeback victory.
