YORKTON, SK – David Coyle scored 7:22 into overtime on the powerplay, as the Yorkton Terriers completed the comeback win 6-5 to take a 2-0 series lead over the Melville Millionaires.

The Terriers got off to a perfect start, scoring on their first shot just 13 seconds into the game. Harrison Aldridge’s point shot was tipped in by Tate Schofer for his second goal of the playoffs.

However, the Millionaires responded in a big way with three unanswered goals.

First, Alex Morrison jammed home a loose puck in the crease after the Terriers failed to clear their defensive zone. Moments later, Gaborik Carlson, making his series debut, roofed a shot over Farrow’s glove to give Melville its first lead of the series.

Shortly after a Terriers penalty kill, Noah Belles-Isles’ shot from the point found its way past Farrow, extending the lead to 3-1.

Yorkton pulled within one when David Coyle ripped a seeing-eye point shot bar down past Gennette.

But just under two minutes later, Jadon Iyogun found a loose puck in the crease and capitalized, restoring the Millionaires’ two-goal cushion.

Melville outshot Yorkton 14-8 in the first period and had the lone power play of the frame.

In the middle frame, the Terriers’ special teams came to life, striking with two power-play goals.

First, Jye Zawatsky found space at the top of the left circle and fired a shot past Gennette, cutting the lead in half once again.

Yorkton then pulled even on the power play just before the midway mark of the period. Tylan Henrikson pounced on a loose puck in the crease, sending Westland Arena into a frenzy. For the Foam Lake product, it was his first goal of the playoffs, tying the game at 4-4.

Melville narrowly outshot Yorkton 8-7 in the second period.

The third period remained scoreless until the final minute—and what an incredible finish it was.

With just 47 seconds left, Preston Baerwald tipped home his first goal of the playoffs past Farrow, giving the Millionaires a late 5-4 lead.

But as they have all season, the Yorkton Terriers showed their resilience.

After a crucial faceoff win with 16 seconds remaining, the puck found Tate Schofer in the slot, and he buried it, tying the game 5-5 and sending Westland Arena into absolute bedlam.

In overtime, the Terriers got a powerplay after David Coyle was contacted with a highstick. David Coyle got a pass from Jaron Desnoyers and he ripped it glove side to complete the comeback, and give the Terriers a 6-5 win, the goal was his second of the evening and third of the playoffs.

The Series now shifts to Melville for Game Three Tuesday night, with the Terriers up 2-0 in the series.
