In the opening twenty minutes, both teams earned a power-play opportunity but were unable to convert, as the Terriers’ penalty kill stood tall early.
Flin Flon broke through late in the frame, with Reid Arberry capitalizing on a rebound off a point shot that deflected off the pad of Callum Creig.
Despite being outshot 11-4 in the opening period, Creig kept things within striking distance heading into the intermission.
Early in the second period, the Bombers added to their lead, as Maverick Deslisle slipped a shot just inside the post. The goal marked his third of the playoffs.
As the period wore on, stretches of four-on-four opened up the ice, creating opportunities at both ends, but neither side was able to capitalize.
Flin Flon held a slight edge in shots during the middle frame, outshooting Yorkton 12-8, but the Terriers continued to push and generate chances.
In the third period, the Bombers added another on the power play, with Connor Miller jamming home a loose puck. Yorkton challenged the play for offside, but after a lengthy review, the call on the ice stood.
With the series now shifting to Westland Arena, its the Terriers turn to use home ice to their advantage. As the saying goes, you’re not in trouble until you lose at home—and the Terriers will have their opportunity to respond in front of what promises to be a raucous crowd for Games 3 and 4 on Wednesday and Thursday.
