Battle-Tested Terriers Set for Final Showdown with Bombers

And Then There Were Two—fittingly, the SJHL’s two best teams will clash for the title.

The Yorkton Terriers and the Flin Flon Bombers have punched their tickets to the Canterra Seeds Cup Final, each earning dramatic Game 7 victories on home ice.

Yorkton broke open a 3-3 tie late in the third period, scoring three times to secure a 6-3 win over Battlefords. Up north, the Bombers leaned on a stellar performance from Charlie Tritt, who turned aside all 26 shots he faced in a narrow 1-0 shutout victory over Weyburn.

For the Terriers, it marks their first trip to the Canterra Seeds Cup Final since the 2013–14 campaign—a season that also ended with an RBC Cup championship. It’s the 12th appearance in franchise history, with Yorkton having hoisted the Cup six times.

For Flin Flon, this stage is nothing new. The Bombers are making their fourth appearance in the final in the last five years, and seventh overall. They last captured the title in 1992–93.

On paper, these two teams are built in remarkably similar ways.

It starts in goal. Callum Creig and Charlie Tritt have been workhorses for their respective clubs throughout the playoffs. Creig has played every minute of Yorkton’s run, posting a 2.36 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage. Tritt has been just as impressive for Flin Flon, appearing in all but one game while recording a 1.74 GAA and a .935 save percentage.

Up front, both teams bring plenty of firepower and depth. The Terriers lead the postseason in goals scored, with defenceman Gavin Bartha pacing the way with eight. Fellow blueliner Thomas Ries sits right behind him with seven, while Gabriel Courchesne leads the team with 18 points.

Flin Flon enters the series with a balanced group as well, with Connor Miller and Reid Arberry pacing their offence. The Bombers have allowed 21 goals this postseason and carry an 87.8 percent penalty kill.

Two teams. Two different paths. One championship on the line.

This series has all the makings of an all-time classic—and it all gets underway tomorrow night.

Buckle up.
