Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League

All Roads Lead to Game 7

The two best words in sports. GAME. SEVEN.

This series between the Yorkton Terriers and the Battlefords North Stars has been an emotional rollercoaster in every sense.

On one hand, the North Stars thought they were in the driver’s seat, holding a two-goal lead in Game 6. But on the other side stood a relentless Terriers squad that refuses to quit.

Yorkton stormed back with five unanswered goals in Game 6, earning a 6–3 victory—highlighted by a pair of goals from Captain Tylan Henrikson, who is heating up at exactly the right time with five points in his last three games.

This series has all the makings of an all-time classic—and the real winners are the fans across the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League.

Because they’re getting not one… but TWO Game Sevens.

And the stakes?

Just a trip to the Canterra Seeds Cup Final. It doesn’t get any bigger than this.

Since the 2007–08 season, the Terriers have played in five Game 7s—all on the road—and hold a 3–2 record. One that still stands out for many fans is the unforgettable 1-vs-8 upset in Nipawin. More recently, Yorkton knocked off the Melfort Mustangs in a 2022 Game 7 victory.

The North Stars, meanwhile, have played just two Game 7s in that span, with their most recent coming in 2019—a win over Flin Flon.

Moments like this are what players dream about. A chance to be the hero. A chance to send your team to the final. And now, it all comes down to one night.

Westland Arena has been electric all playoffs long, and tonight marks the biggest game in the franchise’s history since the run to the 2014 RBC Cup Final.

Get here early. Be Loud. BRING. THE. ENERGY.

Puck drop is set for 7:00 PM.
