The Yorkton Terriers put together a strong road performance, earning a convincing win by controlling play at both ends of the ice.
Yorkton opened the scoring in the first period following a steady start from both clubs. Cash Lanigan struck first for the Terriers, finishing off a well-executed setup from Vinay Junek and Aidan Vallance to give Yorkton a 1–0 lead after twenty minutes. At the other end, Callum Creig was sharp early, stopping all eight Estevan shots in the opening frame.
The Terriers took full control in the second period, outshooting the Bruins 18–5 and extending their lead with a pair of goals. Junek doubled the advantage with his 12th of the season, converting a feed from Lanigan, while Vallance picked up his second assist of the night. Later in the period, Tyler Palin made it 3–0, finishing off a play created by Evan Auld and Tylan Henrikson.
Estevan found a late response in the middle frame, as Rylan Williams managed to solve Creig to pull the Bruins back within two.
Midway through the third period, Yorkton’s top line provided some much-needed insurance. William Léonard wrapped home his 25th goal of the season to restore a three-goal cushion and put the game firmly out of reach.
Creig turned aside 23 of 24 shots to earn his 17th win of the campaign. Lanigan, Junek, and Vallance each recorded multi-point nights as the Terriers extended their lead to three points over the Bruins while continuing to chase the division-leading Weyburn Red Wings.
The Terriers will look to carry this momentum home as they welcome the Battleford North Stars to Westland Insurance Arena on Saturday evening.
