2024 Terrier Spring Camp Grows in Interest and Talent

2 Countries - 7 Provinces - 11 States - Over 170 Players.

The success of the 2024 Edition of the Yorkton Terriers Spring Camp could be measured in many ways. Head Coach and General Manager Emery Olauson explains, “I was overall, very pleased with not only the number of players interested in showcasing themselves to the Yorkton Terriers, but also impressed by the skill and level of competition in our camp this past weekend. It was really flattering for our organization and city, how many players travelled from such great distances and different corners of the continent to attend our camp. We had 170 families from Alaska to Florida, Massachusetts to California, and everywhere in between, in addition to players from all over western Canada immersed in our community over the weekend.”

The strong attendance and interest to play in Yorkton and for the Yorkton Terriers from all across North America, shows that this is a franchise on the way up in the SJHL.

There is a lot of work that goes into the offseason for any sports organization and this camp was a great way to accomplish a lot of those duties in one 3 day event.

“The goal of the camp was to become more familiar with potential draft picks, prospects, and also junior aged players that we feel can make us better this year. We have already begun extending offers to players previously not on our protected list from camp. I am convinced that our team got better this past weekend and look forward to the draft and the rest of the recruiting season ahead.” commented Coach Olauson.

After Tuesday April 9th’s announcement of Humboldt’s Thomas Ries signing a letter of intent with the Terriers. The excitement of a great core group returning and new additions will have Yorkton Terrier Hockey on the minds of everyone all summer long.
