ZUBKO EARNS FIRST STAR WITH TWO-GOAL PERFORMANCE

scored two goals and hit the crossbar on his hat trick attempt as the Yorkton Terriers doubled up on the Melville Millionaires Friday night at the Farrell Agencies Arena.

The game's first goal came at 2:04 courtesy a Torey Stott marker. Austin Bourhis and Jordan Menke were credited with the assists.

Zubko's first goal, which was scored at the 6:02 mark of the opening frame, made it a 2-0 game. Rylan McDonell and Bourhis had the assists.

Zubko scored just over two-and-a-half minutes later, with Nick Dietrich and David Skagen picking up the assists.

Yorkton lead 3-0 heading into the first intermission.

At 5:29 of the second period, Matt Kinnunen found the back of the Terriers net. Then, at 7:06, Michael Jordan did the same. The Terriers doubled their lead at 8:03, though, as Nathan Murray scored his first-ever SJHL goal. Dietrich and Skagen also earned assists on this goal.

Both teams were held scoreless in the third period, as the Yorkton Terriers skated away with a 4-2 win.

TERRIERS ON LOSING END OF HIGH-SCORING GAME

The Yorkton Terriers lost the second game of their Thanksgiving weekend home-and-home series with the Melville Millionaires 8-6 Sunday evening.

It was an early start time at the Melville Stadium, and the scoring started early, as well.

Clarke Breitkreuz
scored his fourth goal of the young SJHL season at 2:02 of the opening frame. Jordan Menke earned the assist on the powerplay marker. David Skagen doubled the Terriers lead at 7:14, with Cody Zubko and Riley Paterson picked up helpers.

Melville's Justin Hollinger cut the Terriers lead in half at at 7:52, but Nick Dietrich regained the Terriers two-goal lead at 12:14 with David Skagen and Kelly Leismeister earning the assists. Michael Jordan and Matt Kinnunen scored the final two goals of the first period, as Yorkton and Melville headed into the first intermission tied at 3 goals apiece.

The second period saw each team scored two goals each. Kevin Stringfellow and Torey Stott scored for Yorkton, while Melville's Michael Rogoschewsky and Michael Desjarlais also found the back of the net.

Desjarlais scored the third period's first goal at 2:22, and Aaron Decorby scored at 6:18 as Melville took a 7-5 lead. Clark Byczysnki made it a one-goal game at 8:56, but Aaron Decorby's goal three minutes later restored Melville's two goal lead, and that was how the game would end, with the Melville Millionaires earning the 8-6 victory before a Thanksgiving Sunday crowd of 732.
